September 2011

  • Meeting of the International Council at the Biosphere Museum in Montreal. Partners from the Great Lakes (USA/CND), the St. Lawrence River and the St. Lawrence Estuary took part.

  • Distribution of the VidéEau competition announcement

October to December 2011

  • Creation of communication tools for the Symphony: press releases, logo, posters etc.
  • Joint working session on the Moncton University Shippagan campus. Meetings and discussions were held with professors, students and representatives of civil society. 
  • Dissemination of information through the network.“Focal points” organise events involving the themes of the Symphony
  • From 11 to 14 October: The Great Lakes Week in Detroit (USA)
  • Discussions with artists/creators
  • Receiving of VidéEau entries (deadline: 31-12-2011) 
  • Working towards the vision of the 1st Symphony, organised together with Stratégies-Saint-Laurent for stakeholders in the freshwater areas of the St. Lawrence River in Montreal.
  • Recording of experiences on video at the Congress of the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Sustainable Development Institute on strategic environmental assessments and the land in Quebec (on line on the Facebook page or the Internet Site of the 1st Symphony)
  • Initiation of an inventory to identify organisations and institution working within the basin area
  • Working towards the vision of the 1st Symphony, organised together with Stratégies-Saint-Laurent and the ROBVQ for stakeholders in the marine areas of the St. Lawrence River in Rimouski.
  • First draft of a programme for the “Quebec Rendez-Vous” on 26 and 27 June

January and February 2012

  • Interim meeting to be held in the USA in January 2012 to share the results from the initial consultation process

March 2012

  • From 12 to 17: participation in the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille (France) and presentation of the initial products (results) of the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence Symphony: shared vision for 2035, experiences, artistic creations etc.
  • Organisation of the 3rd International Water and Film Events in Marseille

April to May 2012

  • Interim meeting to be held in Ontario in January 2012 to share the results from the initial consultation process and prepare the assembly
  • Continuation of “focal point” initiatives and consultation process
  • Preparation of the 1st Symphony (see June 2012).

June 2012

  • On 26, 27 and 28 June: organisation of the 1st Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Symphony, in the town of Quebec (Canada). This Symphony will be the culmination of the sharing of experiences, with a public debate on the theme “outlook for 2035”. This event will be coordinated with the annual assembly of the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence Cities Initiative.
